- The Jacobite steam train – only return tickets, atmospheric but can be unreliable
- The regular train (1h 24 mins) – from Fort William to Mallaig, the same route as the steam train, but cheaper
- Car along the train route – allows you to stop by at places suggested by the audio
- Bicycle – to avoid heavy traffic during the summer months use the old road that runs roughly parallel to the train lines and take the Camusnagaul ferry to use the A861 along the shores of Loch Eil
